A groom who really cares for the women in his life

This last month as I’m watching the groom walk his mother down the aisle, I turned to see the the whole group of groomsman crying. After a long embrace, the priest went on with the rest of the ceremony. I watched Jack interact with his mom, and also how he treated his new wife Abbey. There was definitely a sense that Abbey had found a real gem for a husband. This was a day full of memories. We stopped at La Paloma Gardens where Abbey had worked in her school days. Later the Moonlight Jazz Orchestra played the same Sinatra tune for Jack and Abbey’s first dance as his parents had heard on their wedding day. The night was filled with the normal roars and roasts coming from the best man and maid of honer. Both of which shared their side of the story of how their friends had tried to put them together in a game of match maker.

But later in the evening as Jack and mom came back together for their special dance, the rest of the room stood still and watched. Not that they were great dancers, they just swayed back and forth together. It was as if they all knew something I didn’t. It wasn’t many weeks after that mom’s cancer had progressed. While not something I typically do, I gave them a photo slide show for mom to watch on the tv complete with “The Way You Look Tonight” accompanying the photos. It had now become evident why they had called me to reserve their wedding date just 2 weeks before the event.

Over the years I have witnessed many many couples weddings. To be invited into the couples lives with their family and closest friends on their wedding day is an honor and I consider myself privileged to capture the emotion of their day.
