Devins senior pictures

Wednesday Devin and I went out to shoot his senior pictures. Devin likes to read about history. We planned a trip to Willard Library to incorporate that into his session. The natural light and woodwork in the Bayard Room made for a classical portrait. We walked across the park and used the windows at Berry […]

Senior Pictures at Rockfords Coronado

Most parents call for their sons senior pictures and immediately tell me they are not in sports or anything like that. As if school was supposed to revolve around a ball. For Josiah, he would rather spend his time after school in the drama department.

Country setting for senoir pictures

Elizabeth wanted something for her senior year that was outdoor and country. We went to a favorite barn only to find it had been burned down. Thankfully the smaller barn next to it still stood.

Brookelins Boylan high school senior pictures

Brookelin came in for her senior pictures on Sunday. Part of the fun of the session was using locations that matched up with what her favorite outfits were. We started by heading downtown and stopped at an old mansion turned into a business. It wasn’t the original stop we had in mind, but it worked […]

Auralia senior pictures

Auralia came in with her grand father who is a suporter of Crusader Clinic. He has won a silent auction package for her senior pictures.  There were just so many good ones to select from. We started in the studio and finished at Sinisippi. While I’m not typically a fan of the cross processed look, […]

Last minute Senior Pictures

Austin came in for senior pictures this week. To talk to moms you would think it is more traumatic for the moms who fear their sons won’t smile than for the kids themselves. Part of it is just finding out what the kids like and working with them.

Why I don’t shoot on cheap lenses

Emily came in for senior pictures but didn’t want outside photos because of the lack of color. With a Canon L series lens that can adjust the background of this photo of the barren trees complements her hair and outfit. For the black and white images they are both straight out of camera. The lighting […]

Real men wear yellow

Cory like many guys want to wear their football jersey for senior pictures. As I have asked many linemen, do you take more hits or give more hits, the answer has almost always been. Give more! The one senior who couldn’t answer the question really was a second string player.

Senior pictures tell who you are

Kelly talked about wanting to be a journalist when she grows up and had been on the high school newspaper staff. Knowing this in advance, I got 100 outdated newspapers from the library to wallpaper a section of the studio for her. As a final touch, I wrote a story of her transferring to the […]

Classical musician

I first met Chantelle 4 years ago when I did her familys portrait and brothers senior pictures. I saw this done with a movie cover and told her to bring her music to go along with the violin. The result is a multi-layered image to tell the story of her music.

A little about Scott

20 years ago I would start my Saturdays watching This Old House before heading out for that days wedding. I grew up in a 90 year old house and as the oldest of 3 sons, I often got in on little fix-it projects. And while tinkering with little projects can be fun, it was nowhere near the scope that Tom Richard, and Roger took on.

A little over a year ago when the wind chill hit -45 degrees, we moved from Northern IL to Newburgh for milder winters and lower taxes. My wife got a job offer to work at Deaconess Hospital. When we were looking for our next house, we (well I) wanted the full remodeling experience. We were both supportive of each others dreams and desires in this next stage of our lives. In the past year we added a bedroom and bath as I took on Norm Abram's roll. My 3 kids have all loved swinging the sledge hammer even when it was a little heavy for them... Read more about me here
